Kate studied Islamic Art and Design at the Royal College of Art where as part of her course she practiced constructing patterns according to ancient geometric principles.  ‘I use a lot of patterns in my pictures and I take them from medieval and Indian and Victorian designs.’ Her exquisite paintings are domestic in scale and subject matter and explores familial relationships and interiors. The images indicate, but do not prescribe, a narrative thereby remaining intriguingly elusive. ‘I find that a lot of people will look at my paintings and imagine their own narrative.’ Besides her artistic practise Kate also teaches at Brighton Museum and Art Gallery. She lives in Hove and is married with two daughters.
